"Woman Walking"
by Gil Franklin

Because Vetter & White represents clients at least as often in federal courts, from the outset our attorneys have made it a high priority to stay abreast of federal court practice and procedure and to take on leadership positions such as the following:

  • establishing the Federal Court Bench/Bar Committee under the auspices of the Rhode Island Bar Association;
  • chairing a federal Board of Bar Examiners created to administer and staff a course for admission to federal court practice in the federal district court;
  • serving more than 20 years on the Board of Bar Examiners;
  • serving more than 12 years as Chair of the Federal Court Bench/Bar Committee;
  • serving as President of the Rhode Island chapter of the Federal Bar Association;
  • serving on the federal court's ADR panel of neutrals;
  • chairing the Continuing Legal Education subcommittee of the Federal Court Bench/Bar Committee.

Our attorneys have been selected by the federal court to attend First Circuit Judicial Conferences and to work on planning committees for both First Circuit and District Court Judicial Conferences. They have led an effort by federal court litigators to assist the court in updating and revising our federal court’s Local Rules.

Through this commitment to federal court practice, and representing clients in enumerable federal court cases, we have come to know the various federal court judges, magistrate judges, clerks and support staff. And they have come to know us.
